Tree Surveys

08.04.2024 | Latest News

Thanks to a grant received from Ripon City Council, FOHW were able to commission a survey of trees and woodland areas on Hell Wath by an independent arborist. This survey took place on 12th February and the full report produced by Symbiosis Consulting Limited can be read by clicking here.

The survey identifies major problems with diseased elms and ash, but also identifies a range of positive actions that could be taken to improve both individual trees and wooded areas. The survey has been forwarded on to the Tree Officer at North Yorkshire Council and we will use it to form the basis of a long term Tree Management Plan.

Another Tree Survey was recently commissioned on behalf of the site owners, Tarmac. This survey was undertaken to identify any health & safety issues with trees on Hell Wath. It resulted in a number of trees being marked with ‘blue blobs’ and/or metal tags. This survey has been forwarded to the Tree Officer at North Yorkshire Council for consideration of works required to mitigate the potential risks identified.
